The Hands Of Midnight (ft. Isis)
Denver based band Hands of Midnight create hazy-hypnotic dance rhythms, laced with sultry synthesizers, and atmospheric textures. Analog drum machines create throbbing beats while a bass sub fleshes out the low end rhythm section. The vocal stylings and catchy lyrics conjure dissonant elements of rock, world music, hip hop, and punk rock.
HOM’s music is framed with a blend of alluring visuals and animation that compliment theprimal pulsing of Hands of Midnight. The band’s influences include Killing Joke, The Clash, Joy Division, the Cure, Cocteau Twins, Sade, DJ Krush, Mad Professor, Zapp, Egyptian Lover, Cabaret Voltaire, Kraftwerk, Boogie Down Productions, Mantronix, and Sonic Youth.

HOM is comprised of music veteran Bill Murphy, Vox/Guitars, who came to Denver via Los Angeles to form the Swayback. The Swayback toured for eight years, zig zagging the U.S. Murphy shared the stage with Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Gang of Four, Cage the Elephant, Portugal the Man, The Hold Steady, the Faint, Dead Meadow, and Dum Dum Girls to name a few. Shawn Trenell“Ultraviolet” O’Neal, Vox/Synthesizers moved to Denver seven years ago via Chicago and SantaFe, New Mexico. Shawn is an established turntablist, and one of the founding members of SantaFe’s High Mayhem Emerging Arts (highmayhem.org), creating multi-media art and music with the High Mayhem collective for eight years. Shawn employed his innovative turntable creationsas a member of seminal experimental rock band The Late Severa Wires, playing alongside bandssuch as Health, Lightning Bolt, and Dub Trio (Matisyahu’s touring band). Burke Miles, fromTuscaloosa, Alabama, is HOM’s visual alchemist. Burke’s ability to blend film, animation, and multi-media design into a compelling presentation has led to successful media packages for VH1, and Animal Planet. Miles stays busy as Art Director and Motion Designer at Friends of Mine, who created a Hands of Midnight video for “Eye Don’t Believe.”

HOM started in 2014 as an all vinyl record duo playing bars and clubs. Since then the duo havescored films live, created soundtracks for dance performances, and began recording an albumscheduled for release at the end of 2016. Their sound is still evolving while playing with bands as diverse as Arrested Development and A Place to Bury Strangers.
