Kal Cahoone is a founding member (along with John Rumley of Slim Cessna’s Auto Club) of Denver band Tarantella and has played with several other Denver musical cohorts such as Lilium, Munly, The Denver Gentlemen, Roger Green and Elin Palmer. In addition, Kal spent time in Argentina playing music with renowned composer/musician Christian Basso and can be heard on the “Dot the I” soundtrack, a film starring Gael Garcia Bernal.

In 2010, Kal walked into a guitar repair shop lured in by Stella, an old dusty green guitar. In that shop, called Instrumentally Sound, was its owner, Guitarist and Luthier Al Scholl. An instant musical pairing, both Kal with Stella and with Al, was formed.

Al Scholl is an accomplished and wildly varied guitarist having played in Denver groups Room 40 and Rabbit Is a Sphere. Having played with Georgina Guidotti and Christopher Nelsen in Rabbit Is a Sphere and wanting to continue that musical relationship after that band’s demise, Al pulled in his cohorts and The Dirty Pretty was formed.

Together, the quartet is going in new musical directions inspired by one another’s musical sensibilities, influences and experimental proclivities. In short, boundaries are being challenged and pushed in hopes of creating something new and unique, and hopefully, some engaging music to listen to.
